Donne Tempo - Beaches Negril
However, what makes this resort a perfect destination is that the comfort of guests is foremost. This is a place perfect to do nothing. And the staff is highly motivated to make sure you do nothing as well as nothing can possibly be done.
Guests are welcome to take advantage of the entertainment, water, sports and exercise equipment and programs. And there is, without doubt, something for everyone to do - plenty of relaxation, fun games and activities, steaks and hamburgers, pizza and island salads to eat.
And then there is the world-class European inspired Red Lane Spa.
The Red Lane Spa is set in a building off to the side where it is immediately calm and quiet, creating a sanctuary for your mind, body and soul. The journey down the path heightens the anticipation of what lays behind their grand double door entrance.
Insider there is a posh, luxurioius Caribbean flair.
Once again, a staff that is kind, gracious and there with your needs, wants and desires in mind meets you.
The Spa uses all natural Pevonia Botanica products to create total body, face and hand/feet treatments that will serve to rejuvenate and refresh. Launched in 1991, the skin care line is named for the Pevonia flower of Greek Myths. It is said that Paion, the physician to the gods, discovered the miraculous Peonia flower embued with extracts so magnetic and powerful they were capable of curing the skin of every goddess.
While I love the tales of the Greek gods and goddesses, the power of Pevonia Botonica to clean, refresh and rejuvenate the skin is not myth. At the hands of extremely skilled estheticians, the facial received not only made my skin look years younger, it made my soul soar.
It was a true holistic experience.
A day at Beaches Negril can include tennis clinics, beach games, pool exercise programs, fitness classes, plenty of games - ballgames, horseshoes, billiards and water polo – even lessons in making hats.
Or you can venture to the beach where water sports are offered. At surf's edge, guests find a variety of watercraft such as canoes, kayaks, wind surfers, banana boats, Hobie Cats and sailboats waiting to be taken out with, or without, a staff member.
In Jamaica, the undersea mountaintops, or seamounts, create world-class reefs that give the water its deep green color under the bright sun that warms the beaches in the afternoon.
Make a reservation, preferably a day or days before, as space is limited on the boats, and take off for an underwater excursion snorkeling or scuba diving under the guidance of certified staff who know the ocean floor as well as they know the land.
By using life jackets and taking instruction, all ages over 6 can be found marveling at the undersea world of snorkeling. Fun to watch friends and family as they are barely able to contain their excitement as manta rays and sea turtles glide by at what seems to be just feet away.
Or giggling with delight as a Nemo look-alike is seen darting into the colorful coral reef.
The mysterious underwater environs are elegantly balanced by the island's lush interior.
Known for its relaxed, kicked-back attitude, Negril once was inhabited by 1960s-era hippies whose calm "no problem" outlook still influences the culture.
Keeping things that way at an all-inclusive resort means that guests don't have to take cash, credit cards or checkbooks out of their rooms. The staff is not allowed to accept tips; however, a kind word, a smile and a thank-you will always result in a broad smile and "No problem."
Dining at Beaches means never being bored. The Mill is an open-air restaurant with a buffet of international cuisines alongside the resort's main pool. A casual place to linger and chat over a bottle of wine or cup of coffee.
