Donne Tempo -Sunrise Springs
Welcome to Sunrise Springs Spa.
It is the essence of harmony.
Sunrise Springs is a retreat, spa, resort and playground rolled into one. With multiple resting spots it is a perfect place to find time to finish a book or begin writing one. It is a place to do simply nothing while enjoying the hot desert breeze tempered to perfection by the leaves of the lush awning overhead.
The Peace Lodge was designed and built for Sunrise Springs by a member of the Cheyenne tribe and is used for ceremony and purification rites; The Peace Lodge connects the spirit to the earth while the Sages Art Center connects the physical.
Sages, a remarkable wood-hewn building offers many ways to entertain, enlighten and learn including a Raku Pottery Studio, Yoga, Tai Chi, art instruction and cooking classes.
Sunrise Springs is a place to open yourself to your own creativity. Here is where you will find the emotional and spacial freedom needed to explore your hidden desires to paint, draw, write – a place to find the time and space to bring forth your own creativity.
A wander around the property finds many hidden resting places. Statues of Buddha placid in the afternoon sun greet those content to wander, a cairn placed haphazardly, yet looking as though this is where it belongs lets us know we are on the right path.
We turn and there is the Peace Lodge, a place to take part in a generational old ceremony. Because it fits into the landscape so well, we do not first even see it.
Samadhi is a Sanskrit term that translates into bliss and at Spa Samadhi that is achieved through thoughtful breath and an aura of kindness. Nestled into the historic adobe style buildings that first great you, the Spa Samadhi is filled with natural light and soothing dark. Spa Director Cari Cohen is often on hand to great guests helping them to enjoy tailored treatments, the Cedar saunas and outdoor hot tubs that provide views of the properties spring-fed ponds, abundant with the sounds of birds and water.
A Green Tea herbal wrap, designed for my visit and to help me become ready for an upcoming Japanese Tea Ceremony, cleanses the body of toxins while fragrant herbs wrap themselves around the senses helping me to achieve a soothing state.
The treatment room, unlike spa rooms devoid of windows or fresh air, has a full glass window that looks out, privately, onto one of the spring fed ponds. Leave the music off and instead lose your self into the music of the birds, water and wind while trained hands gently rejuvenate and encourage your body and soul.
