have recently moved to a new single family house in
a very quiet suburban housing development. However,
there are a few younger drivers (that I have not

I
need some kick ass advice on an issue facing a
friend of mine. He has moved across country and is
finding it very hard to adjust to life in the East
coast after having lived in NoCal for a good part
of his life. Some people, like him, need a daily
practice to stay grounded. His was surfing...which
we don't have here where he lives. He keeps looking
to me for advice but, he really doesn't listen.
What would you suggest Let's shovel

I
was recently laid off. Although this is ultimately
a positive change for me, the experience was
shocking and horrible. I handled it professionally
but I harbor some resentment to some of those in
the office who knew I was "on the list" early on
but did nothing to warn me. I haven't acted out on
my resentment or burned any bridges....

My
high school age daughter has lots of "friends" on
Facebook. One young man is always trying to force
his political and religious views on others by
repeatedly posting offensive comments and putting
down those that disagree with him.

My
17 year old daughter is beautiful and a very normal
weight for her age. She looks just great. (When)
She weighed in at her annual checkup and was very
unhapppy with her weight (she is also an athelete
so she has good muscle tone which may add a couple
of pounds). Many of her friends aspire to being as
thin as they can. I think she understands that she
shouldn't worry about it too much, and as a former
anorexic myself, I am overly sensitive to her
feelings on this, but she immediately asked me to
change the foods i buy for the household AND not to
discuss it with her. Let's

I
watched a woman ask for help at a local store
yesterday and the store representative was almost
completely unhelpful. The customer walked away in a
huff and out loud made a snide comment. I thought,
that's how I feel too when there's no exchange, no
effort, no interest from the other side ...
especially when I think they will be there to
help.

much better at taking care of myself than I used to
be. What I'd love some kick-ass advice on is when I
call someone on breaking an agreement with me, and
they get angry and then avoid me or don't talk to
me, my instinct is to apologize, though I have
